Psychologist

Dr. Cathy Kerzner is psychologist with a clinical practice in Ottawa since 2000. She obtained a B.Sc. in psychology from McGill University and a Ph.D. in psychology from Carleton University. As a graduate student, she won the prestigious Medical Research Council studentship award to conduct research in the treatment of eating disorders. Her clinical training was completed at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, The Ottawa Hospital, and The Douglas Hospital in Montreal within the departments of psychiatry and specialized eating disorder, perinatal, and stress management clinics. Upon receipt of her registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, she launched a private practice providing psychological services to those with eating disorders,  anxiety, and depression.

In 2009, with her children nearly grown, Dr. Kerzner resumed participation in her previous passions of music, sport & dance. She quickly recognized the benefit of applying psychological principles to running races and musical performance. With her interest in the field of sport & performance psychology piqued, she began a programme of professional development that included consultation with world experts in this field.  

Thus, Dr. Kerzner’s current practice includes providing assistance to those seeking mental skills training for optimal performance as well as treatment for clinical disorders such as anxiety, depression, and eating disorders.

Dr. Kerzner’s dedication to lifelong learning and her enthusiastic, creative, and professional approach to her work attracts a wide range of high performers, such as athlete

s, performing artists, executives and professionals, to her practice. She has worked with athletes of various sports and levels and performing artists such as vocalists and the students at the National Arts Centre’s Young Artists Program.

Dr. Kerzner is an engaging speaker and is frequently invited to present workshops on topics related to sport & performance psychology.
